Lady Trojans Release 2009-10 Schedule

The Taylor University women's basketball team announced its 2009-10 schedule today, which features five games against 2009 national tournament qualifiers, four of which advanced to the Sweet 16.

After opening the season with five straight road games, the Lady Trojans will debut in Odle Arena on November 24 when they play host to conference foe University of Saint Francis. The matchup with the Cougars is the first of three league games during the first semester. The following week Taylor will travel to Huntington University on December 2 before Spring Arbor University comes to town on the 5th.

Sandwiching the first-semester conference action is a trip to Cornerstone University on November 14 and a visit from Aquinas University on December 19. Cornerstone finished No. 7 in last season's final top 25 poll and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the national tournament. Aquinas finished receiving votes in the final 2008-09 poll and topped out at No. 14 early in the season. They also appeared in the national tournament.

Just prior to tipping off the bulk of conference action in January, Taylor will once again host the Taylor Holiday Classic on December 30-31, which will feature 2009 national tournament qualifier, IU-Southeast, and Indiana Tech.

The final weeks of January will be nothing short of challenging as the Lady Trojans will take on each of last season's top three conference finishers in less than two weeks. The stretch will feature back-to-back games against 2009 regular season conference champion, Bethel College, and Indiana Wesleyan University, who finished last season ranked No. 16 and No. 19, respectively.

Huntington University finished last season ranked No. 13 after winning the conference tournament and will travel to Taylor on January 27 to wrap up the grueling week-and-a-half block.

The Lady Trojans will open the season on November 7 at Wilberforce College.
