Taylor has 10 NAIA Scholar Teams

Ten of Taylor University's 15 athletic teams were recognized Friday as scholar teams by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for the 2008-2009 school year.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average among all of its varsity athletes.

The women's cross country team led the list of Taylor honorees with a 3.57 GPA, followed by women's tennis (3.52 GPA) and women's track & field (3.39 GPA). Rounding out the top five Trojan squads were women's basketball (3.31 GPA) and volleyball (3.29 GPA).

Other Taylor programs honored included men's cross country (3.25 GPA), men's tennis (3.21 GPA), softball (3.15 GPA), men's track & field (3.13 GPA), and men's golf (3.11 GPA).
