Bryan 8th at NAIA National Championships

March 07, 2009

Taylor University sophomore Isaac Bryan ran a season best 4:19.11 in the Mile Run to finish 8th in the event at the 2009 NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field National Championships.

In a blazing fast field of 10 runners, Bryan went out to a 2:07 first half mile and came back with a 2:12 to finish just one second out of seventh place.

"To run this well as a sophomore is a great accomplishment," said Taylor head Coach Ted Bowers.  "I'm really proud of all of our kids.  We're pleased with our performances, and this weekend is a great springboard into the outdoor season."

The sidebar to Bryan's finish was the winning time of Azusa Pacific's Aron Rono in 4:03.74.  The performance broke the NAIA Indoor Championship record, which was last set in 1996 by Taylor's own James Njoroge in 4:03.88.
