Trojans 5th at IWU Invitational
February 14, 2009
Depth throughout the sprints and relays propelled the Trojans to a place 5th finish at the 16-team Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday. Highlighting the day was an NAIA provisional qualifying performance by the 4x800 relay team.
The quartet consisting of sophomores Brian Tencher, Isaac Bryan, and Nate Kirsch along with freshman Josh Ohman produced a 7:59.49 in their first outing of the season to place third in the event.
Head Coach Ted Bowers was very excited about the quartet's performance, "They wanted this badly and made no mistakes in the race plan. Each man produced what we were looking for and we are really excited about this young group of men qualifying for Nationals."
While TU did not claim any first place finishes, Michael Pabody and Bryan each produced runner-up finishes in the 3000-meters and mile respectively. Also grabbing a silver was the 4x400 relay team of Kyle Cassidy, Dave Voss, Brad Wetherell, and Bryan Allingham.
Allingham finished third in the 400-meter race, while Dave Voss placed fourth in the 200 meters to go with Kirsch's fourth in the 600 meters.
Next weekend TU will travel to Cedarville for the NCCAA Championships.
