Head Track and Field coach Ted Bowers enters his seventh season at the helm of the men's and women's programs.
The 1973 TU grad has been a fixture on the coaching staff since 1988. He has worked with sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, and multi-event athletes. Under his tutelage, the sprint/hurdle corps has produced seven national champions and in 2003 he led the Trojans to a sixth place finish at the NAIA National Meet.
While in charge of sprints/hurdles, Bowers has produced an All-American hurdler for ten consecutive years from from 1997-2005 and has three 4x400 All-American relay quartets in the past seven years.
The Trojan men have won three MCC Championships with Bowers guiding the program.
He realizes that he is following in some large footsteps, "Taylor track & field is a program that people have respected for years. The way our team represents Christ and honors Him with their efforts at the highest level is its most important attribute. The real challenge is to lead our team in such a way that we continue to bring honor to the Lord and grow in our relationships with Him while pursuing our potential athletically."
Bowers currently serves his profession as First Vice-President of the NAIA Track and Field Coaches Association.
In addition to coaching women's and men's track, he is head coach of the men's cross country team and is in his ninth year as Director of Sports Information at Taylor.
Bowers lives in Upland with his wife, Dana.
