Trojans Lose Final Non-Conference Match
September 25, 2009
In the final non-conference match of the regular season the Taylor University men's soccer team fell to the University of St. Francis (IL) 1-0. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Trojans, who are now 4-6 on the season.
For the eighth time this season Taylor was on the defensive early being outshot 13-7 in the first half. Four minutes into the game the Fighting Saints capitalized on just their third shot attempt when Victor Trujillo found the back of the net from the top of the box.
Taylor became the aggressors in the second frame posting eight more shots than their opponents, but none of them were rewarded.
Ian Perrotte led the way with five shot attempts followed closely by Tyler Beachler with four. Seven Trojans contributed to the team's seven attempts on goal.
Josh Giuliano saved seven balls in the contest.
The Trojans start conference action on Sept. 30 when they play host to Marian University at 4 p.m.
