Men's Soccer Falters on the Road

September 02, 2009

The Taylor University men's soccer team was defeated by Georgetown College, 3-0, today in their first of six consecutive road matches.

The loss drops the Trojans to 1-3 on the season. Georgetown improves its record to 2-0.

The Tigers were the aggressors early, outshooting the Trojans 8-4 in the first half and tallying three goals. Georgetown found the back of the net first in the 11th minute of action when Austin Moman connected on a header. The next two goals came in the 22nd minute and 41st minute of action.

Taylor turned the tables in the second half posting eight shot attempts to Georgetown's two. Tyler Beachler led the offensive attack for the Trojans with six attempts, including three on goal. Unfortunately, none of those opportunities resulted in a goal. It was the first time this season the Trojans have been shut out.

Goalkeeper Josh Giuliano recorded a season-high seven saves for the Trojans.

Taylor returns to the pitch on Friday in the two-day Wheaton Invitational. The Trojans take on Judson University at 2 p.m. On Saturday Taylor will face Wheaton College for the first time in the program's history.
