Volleyball Claims Crusader Classic Title

The No. 20 Taylor volleyball team picked up two more wins Saturday as the Trojans finished the weekend a perfect 4-0 on their way to capturing the championship at the Madonna Crusader Classic in Livonia, Mich.
Taylor (26-4) defeated Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-23) and then sealed the title with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-13) sweep of Michigan-Dearborn.
Betsy Brown (Adrian, Mich./Lenawee Christian) was named the Crusader Classic Most Outstanding Player. The sophomore setter finished the weekend with four match totals of 169 assists and 34 digs, while directing the Trojans offense to a .278 hitting percentage.
The All-Tournament Team also included Kelsey Pritchard (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg), who had 80 kills to hit at a clip of .376. The sophomore outside hitter had a career high 33 kills in a win over No. 18 Madonna on Friday night.
With the win over Embry-Riddle (#RV), Taylor has now won its last six matches against teams ranked in the Top 25 or in the receiving votes section of the national poll. The Trojans also hold a current 24-match win streak against unranked opponents.
After being on the road for its last 12 matches, Taylor returns home Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. for a conference tilt versus Huntington.
