Johnson Leads TU at Great Lakes Invite

The Lady Trojan cross country team placed 7th at the 19 team Great Lakes Challenge contested on Saturday morning in Grand Rapids, Michigan. TU was led by senior Alyssa Johnson who finished 6th in the field of 225 runners as she covered the 5000 meter distance with a time of 18:49.
Coach Cindy Callison's team ran well in spite of injuries and illness.
Ashley Henry took TU's second slot and 34th overall in 19:39. Kirstin Hegelein and Hilary Pederson placed 51st and 52nd with times of 19:52 and 19:53 respectively. Tabitha Bogue claimed the fifth spot for the Lady Trojans and 74th overall crossing the line in 20:24.
Kelsey Vanhousen and Kayce Swofford rounded out the top seven by placing 98th and 103rd at 20:48 and 21:09.
The Lady Trojans take next weekend off from competition before heading to Fort Wayne on Nov. 7 for the Mid-Central College Conference championships on the campus of IPFW.
