Doubles Pair Drops First Match at ITA

Kristin Goeke and Kaiti Marsh suffered their first loss of the season Thursday afternoon in first round doubles action at the eight-team ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala.
The senior pair had their 19 match winning streak snapped by Adriana Gonzalez and Giuliana Gonzalez of McKendree (Ill.) University by the final scores of 5-7, 6-2, and 10-4 in the tiebreaker.
After the loss, Goeke and Marsh fall to the consolation side of the bracket where they will face Juliana Costa and Marcela Santos of Bethel (Tenn.) University at 5 p.m. CST today.
Costa and Santos lost their first round match against Collins and Bresson of the second-seeded team from Savannah College of Art and Design, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
Regardless of the outcome of today's second match, Goeke and Marsh will play again on Friday at 3:30 pm CST for their final match of the tournament.
