Trojan XC Second at Bethel Invitational
October 10, 2009
Taylor's 25th ranked men's cross country placed second at the Bethel Invitational on Saturday despite not having Michael Pabody in the lineup due to illness. Isaac Bryan and Tom Robertson didn't miss a beat, taking second and third respectively in the 55-runner field.
Bryan (26:06) and Robertson (26:29) led the field throughout the 8000 meter distance, but IWU's Ethan Naylor slipped past in the final 100 meters to take the win.
Corbin Slater (27:09), Brian Tencher (27:33), and Jeff Hubley (28:13), back from missing three weeks rounded out the top five.
Coach Ted Bowers was pleased with his team's progress, "We had a very good day out there. We had several bests for the season and feel good about the results despite the fact that it was Jeff's first race in three weeks and we were missing Michael Pabody and Matt Bane. This group has their sights set high and are steadily progressing toward those goals.
The Trojans take next weekend off from competition before heading to Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 24th for the Great Lakes Invitational hosted by Aquinas College.
Other times were:
Caleb Pack 28:43
Tim Griffiths 28:52
Nate Kirsch 28:55
