Trojans Finish Semifinals 7-1
October 09, 2009
After rain moved the Mid-Central College Conference women's tennis tournament indoors for the second day in a row, the Trojans dropped just one match in advancing seven players to Saturday's finals.
Taylor is tied with Indiana Wesleyan with 15 points entering the final day of competition. Both teams will play seven matches, five of which will be head-to-head.
The duo of Kristin Goeke and Kaiti Marsh knocked out one IWU team in the #1 doubles competition, but the Wildcats returned the favor in the #4 singles flight when Lauren Wilson upended TU's Sarah Billman.
Marsh may have been the most tested Trojan on the afternoon when she faced Dana Reynolds from Marian at #2 singles. Marsh breezed past Reynolds 6-1, 6-1 in their last regular season meeting, but Reynolds put up a fight on Friday before falling 6-3, 6-4.
The finals will move outdoors to the originally scheduled location at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. Matches are set to begin at noon.
