Trojans 7-2 on Opening Day at MCC

Just before midnight Friday the Taylor men's tennis team concluded 11 hours of competition that ended with a 7-2 record for the Trojans on the opening day of the 2009 Mid-Central College Conference Tournament in Muncie, Ind.

Due to wet conditions, matches had to be moved from Indiana Wesleyan University indoors to the Muncie YMCA Northwest location.

With Taylor's seven wins on the day, the Trojans are in third place behind Indiana Wesleyan and Marian, who each have eight points in the tournament.

Defending No. 1 singles champion Felipe Bedon won his first round match by the final score of 6-1, 6-2 over Nathan Baker of Bethel College.

Semifinal action will get underway at 10 a.m. Friday morning back at the Muncie YMCA Nortwest location.
