Men's Tennis Knocks off NCAA Div. II Foe

The Taylor men's tennis teams closed out its fall regular season Saturday with a 6-3 win at home over NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis. The win improved Taylor's record to 8-4 on the season.

The Trojans used a 2-1 advantage in doubles competition as a springboard into singles play.

After trailing 5-2 to start the match, the No. 3 doubles team of Steve Erny and Andrew Gnagy came back to defeat Steffen Good and Preston Swain by the final margin of 8-6.

At No. 2 doubles Bryce Perkins and Luke Tilden won 8-2 over Werner Henning and Alex Poe.

Junior No. 1 singles player Felipe Bedon improved his season record to 14-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Taylor Broda.

Perkins won at No. 2 singles in a thriller, 7-6 (6), 2-6, 10-7.

The other two Taylor winners were Jack Reed at No. 4 singles and Wes Nitzsche at No. 6 singles.

"Our guys played well today," said Taylor head coach Don Taylor. "Despite the cold and windy conditions, everybody had a good effort."

Taylor will compete in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament next Thursday through Saturday.
