Lady Trojan XC Third at Little State

The Taylor women's cross country team finished third Friday in the 14-team Little State race at the 2009 Indiana Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.
Taylor was led by two Top 20 finishes from Alyssa Johnson in 11th place with a time of 19:43, and Ashley Henry's 18th place finish in 20:15.
The rest of the top five was made up of Kirstin Hegelein (20:26), Hilary Pederson (20:37), and Kelsey VanHousen (20:51)
Among the 14 teams competing in the race were programs representing NCAA Div. II, Div. III, and the NAIA. Taylor finished with a score of 114 behind tenth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (60) and meet winner DePauw (38).
In the combined Big State Meet results, the Lady Trojans finished 11th out of 22 teams. Indiana University won the Big State Meet with 47 points.
After taking a week off from competition, Taylor's next race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at the IWU Wildcat Invitational.
