Trojan Comeback Bid Falls Short
February 20, 2009
After falling behind Urbana University 6-0 after two and a half innings Friday, the Taylor baseball team had their five-run comeback bid fall just short as they fell to the Blue Knights 6-5 at the Bryan College Invitational.
Senior Paul Passiales and sophomore Taylor Kinzer led the offensive charge by each hitting a home run, along with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate from Passiales.
Down by just a run, Taylor put the tying run in scoring position each of the last two innings, but was unable to cash in on either opportunity.
Pitching in relief of starter Travis Carsten, reliever Caleb Stertzer went four innings and struck out six while giving up only one run.
In their next action at the invitational, Taylor (1-3) will face Southeastern University at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
