Visit Tips
Planning Your Visit
- Come on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday to experience chapel.
- Plan on staying overnight in a residence hall.
- Bring a friend!
The Admissions Office
- Say hello to Kathy, Barb and Chelsee and ask them anything you want!
- Make yourself a caramel mocha: 1 cup of coffee, 1 packet of hot chocolate mix, and 2 squirts of caramel syrup.
- Look at the notebook of student staff profiles. You'll run into these people throughout the day!
Your Interview
- There's no need to wear your fanciest Prom dress or your newly dry-cleaned 3-piece suit; wear whatever you are most comfortable in!
- Relax and be yourself! It's an informal time that allows the counselors to get to know you better.
Your Financial Aid Meeting
- Laugh at ALL of Ken Taylor's jokes. He needs all the encouragement he can get.
Your Tour
- The CREW members will walk backwards. Be sure to keep up with them, but if you walk too fast, you'll invade their personal walking space necessary for a good tour!
- Tell the CREW members your areas of interest, and they will point out important spots for you along the way.
- Ask questions!
The Dining Commons
- Meet Barb... she will take your lunch ticket
- Do your best not to be overwhelmed. Feel free to explore and eat as much as you want!
- Check out what the Specialty Bar has to offer.
- Ask a student what their favorite DC creation is (like an Oreo-Mocha-Milkshake or rice krispie treats) and try to make it!
- Be sure to get a DC mint on your way out.
The Rest of Your Day
- Explore the campus! Check out the buildings you didn't see on the tour.
- Really sing during chapel. Worship is amazing.
- Visit each Residence Hall and ask the front desk worker to see a room.
- Meet with a professor and ask questions about their department.
- Sit in on a class.
- Get your picture taken with the Sammy statues!
During the Evening
- Go to a sporting event.
- Get something to drink at the Jumping Bean, our campus coffee shop.
- Visit Ivanhoes and choose one of their 100 milkshakes or 100 sundaes!
- Check out any campus activities planned for the night.
In a Residence Hall
- Ask someone about the residence hall's traditions.
- Go to events with the people you are staying with... they know what is going on around campus!
- Ask tough questions and expect honest answers!
