Elementary Education

Taylor University seeks to develop competent, caring and reflective teachers prepared for world service.  The elementary education program at Taylor University leads to a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree with a K-6 elementary generalist license as approved by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and accredited by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  A subject matter concentration in an approved content area is required by the IDOE.  This concentration can be met by a special education license (Special Education: Mild Intervention), TESOL license, junior high/middle school license in math, language arts, science or social studies, additional classes in a content area or an approved minor. 

Educational Studies

The Education Department offers an Educational Studies major which leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in education but does not lead to a teaching license.  Some employment opportunities are private schools, church-related schools, youth related ministries, and education related opportunities in a variety of settings.

Secondary Education Degrees

Taylor University seeks to develop competent, caring and reflective teachers prepared for world service.  These secondary education programs at Taylor University lead to a Bachelor of Science degree and licensure in grades 5-12 approved by the Indiana Department of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). 

These secondary education programs at Taylor University lead to a Bachelor of Science degree and a licensure in grades P-12 programs approved by the Indiana Department of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

TESOL

The TESOL program at Taylor University is an additional licensure program for elementary educationsecondary education, and all-grade candidates (Music, Physical Education, and Art) approved by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and accredited by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  Upon completion of the program, candidates obtain two teaching licenses from the Indiana Department of Education: K-6 Elementary Education Generalist or a secondary content license or an all-grade content license, and a TESOL license.  A TESOL minor or certificate is also available.
