Chemistry and Biochemistry Department

Think interdisciplinary, interpersonal, interactive - not lab coats.

Chemists and biochemists today don’t work alone in a lab hunched over equipment with their lab coats on. Today’s chemists are those who embrace a liberal art education, and excel in environments where they can work together with peers in a variety of opportunities, like working with botanists to protect crops, partnering with physical education professors to improve exercise science processes or working with others in the medical field to cure diseases.

At Taylor, you get the additional benefit of working with chemistry and biochemistry faculty who will be passionate about showing you how to integrate your faith in what you do every day. You will also have the opportunity to work in the Euler Science Complex where you will have state-of-the-art equipment that you can work on to complete real-world projects in an environment where space was created to encourage working together.

Sound like something you would be interested in? If so, know that you would join the ranks of alumni who have had 95% placement in medical school, 100% placement rate for all graduate schools, and 99% placement rate for industry and teaching.

Take the next step

Listen to Dr. King talk about the department. Look over our degrees and majors. Better yet, come visit campus and take a tour of the Euler Science Complex.

Dr. Dan King, analytical chemistry professor, discusses the opportunities students will have at Taylor to do interdisciplinary research with faculty and peers.
