Do you have a passion for music, as evidenced by your participation in choir, band, music ministry or theatre? Are you considering a career as a professional singer, composer, pianist, music teacher, music manager or music minister? Graduates of Taylor’s music program go on to become leaders in all these fields and more.
Our music majors are trained in music theory and ear training, and our instruction is based on the individual needs of the student and is highly oriented to technology applications. As a freshman, your curriculum has introduction to music courses that are designed to transition you into serious music study including exposure to ideas about the performing arts and culture, Christian applications to career options and foundational materials that fills in gaps that may exist in your background.
All of our music majors also receive full hour applied lessons each week with a professional musician who is a specialist in their area of study. After four years, you will have experience with professional faculty, excellent instruments and equipment and you will be among those who have won awards in competition and have traveled abroad to engage the world with music. You will also have the opportunity to network with alumni who are passionate about helping you grow in your skills and faith.

The Taylor University Jazz Ensemble has been invited to Cuenca, Ecuador by Verbo Iglesia Cristiana to work alongside them in ministry during Taylor's spring break.
The 52 member Taylor University Chorale, under the direction of Dr. JoAnn Rediger, will be performing in nine different venues during their spring tour, March 22 - April 1.
Dr. Frederick B. Shulze, professor emeritus of music, died this morning at the Kindred Transitional Care Center in Muncie, Ind. Shulze served as music professor and campus organist at Taylor University from 1970-2002. He was also well known as the organist at Muncie’s First Baptist Church – a position he held for 37 years.
