Aim Students

The Academic Intensive Module (AIM) is a program created to provide assistance to new students who are provisionally accepted through the admissions process at Taylor University.

The AIM program includes enrolling in a course in learning skills, requires study table hours and progress reports, provides mentoring and tutoring services, and provides academic counseling.  The goal is that students under AIM will become successful, self-directed, and independent learners, fulfilling their goals for a college education.

AIM students agree to the following terms:

  • To enroll in no more than 12 hours of coursework during the first semester, plus IAS180, Applied Learning Techniques.
  • To remain an "undeclared major" the first two semesters.
  • To attend all classes and not take any cuts unless for medical reasons or other excused absences.
  • To meet all proficiency requirements of the University during the freshman year.
  • To meet with their professors for periodic progress reports.
  • To meet monthly with their assigned academic advisor in the Academic Enrichment Center.
  • To participate in the required study table program of 12 weekly hours in the library.
  • To have permission from the Academic Review Committee (ARC) to participate in any major extra curricular activities.
  • To be aware that periodic evaluation of their academic progress will be made by the ARC.

If you are currently an AIM student and have questions about the AIM program, its requirements, or academic questions in general, please contact Dr. Edwin Welch.
