MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATION 2009
Join us as we celebrate ‘THE BELOVED COMMUNITY’ and the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2009.
Popularized throughout the early and mid-twentieth century, the phrase “beloved community” did not originate with Dr. King, however his definition was unique. Most scholars agreed that the beloved community would be realized through social progress and programs, however Dr. King believed it would be the result of a divine gift or a theological event. We as a University echo King’s sentiments. As we celebrate “Becoming the Beloved Community” and the life and vision of Dr. King, we acknowledge our absolute dependence and reliance on God and His Divine Gifts.
Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
~ Col. 3:11 (NIV)
