- The U.S. Government-produced Country Studies series
covering about 100 nations - Portals to the world
a gateway produced by the Library of Congress to various information links on many countries - Country Monitor series and Country Report series
from the Economist Intelligence Unit - Columbia International Affairs Online
CIAO bills itself as "the most comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs." It lists materials from a wide variety of sources, such as think tanks and NGOs, in addition to books and periodicals. Find it on the Alphabetical List of Databases. - The Internet Public Library
provides a valuable rich clearinghouse for web-sites on many topics. See especially the page that directs to Regional and Country Information. In addition, IPL may provide the most comprehensive guide to online international newspapers.
Comprehensive gateways to websites related to international affairs are:

International Agencies and Information on the Web: Select any of the following categories: "Foreign," "International" and "Political Science."
