Timeless: The Classical Literary Resource for Today's World Christian

04.18.2009

Timeless words...

Vox audita perit litera scripta manet. A paraphrase of this Latin proverb reads something like: "the spoken word perishes, the written word endures." Christians are "people of the book" and Holy Scripture is the most important written word for us. There are also past Christian voices who, through the written word, can still effectively speak to us about their experiences with Christ, informing and guiding our own.

A new magazine attempts to do give a forum for some of those voices -- Timeless: The Classical Literary Resource for Today's World Christian. Through highly select "articles" (excerpts) it seeks to edify contemporary Christians through witnesses from the past who represent abiding faith, deep wisdom, and Kingdom truth. In the most recent issue, you'll find short selections ranging from Macarius (a 4th century Egyptian "Desert Father") to Ruth Paxson, a popular, early 20th century devotional writer, perhaps best known for her book, Life on the Highest Plane.

Timeless... read and listen in the Zondervan current periodicals collection. Timeless... let some of those "enduring" words stretch and challenge our minds and hearts.
