What's new? Magnetic Strip Readers!
03.03.2009
The library now has magnetic strip readers to scan student ID cards! This should replace the increasingly spotty method of scanning the bar code on students' cards.
Between the printing and having to hold the card just so, desk workers were finding the time it took just to scan an ID card was painfully slow. Now, just like swiping a credit card, the process of checking out a book should improve in speed and accuracy.
The only reason that there is a bar code on Taylor ID cards is for use in the library. If this test of the mag-strip readers has no significant hitches the rest of this semester, it is likely that the bar code will be removed from the front of the Taylor ID cards.
We hope this improvement makes your experience in the library just THAT much more satisfying.
