Buttons to Pull-downs: Changing the Library Search Boxes

The home page now has a new face for the search boxes that were at the top of the page. What used to be called the Quick Search and the Google Quick Search has changed.On one side, you will see a “Find” search box and on the other you will see a “Search” box. They essentially do the same thing as they did before, with a few changes or additions.
On the Find box the pull down options are . . .
- A book. – Searches the Taylor online catalog using the simple keyword search.
- An article. – Searches Academic Premiere and MasterFile Premiere together using a keyword search.
- A journal. – Searches the list of journals, magazine, and newspapers that are available through the library physically or electronically.
- A magazine. – Searches the list of journals, magazine, and newspapers that are available through the library physically or electronically.
- A newspaper. – Searches the list of journals, magazine, and newspapers that are available through the library physically or electronically.
On the Search box the pull down options are . . .
- The web – Searches the web through Google with a key word or phrase.
- Google Scholar. – Searches Google Scholar with a key word or phrase.
- JSTOR using Google. – Searches Google Scholar with a key word or phrase and adds a JSTOR term to limit the results to just those in JSTOR.
- ACS using Google. – Searches Google Scholar with a key word or phrase and adds an ACS term to limit the results to just those from ACS.
- Google Books. – Searches Google Books with a key word or phrase.
- The library web site. – Searches the library web site using Google’s search engine.
