Find a way to Search GOOGLE better

09.16.2008

Google offers many little known search tactics that can enhance the relevancy of your results in seconds. In addition to using the Advanced Search screen, Google has built in codes and other methods of jumping more efficiently through the information universe to the sources you need.

Below we have compiled some links to documents and web sites that point out some of these features.

First, we'll start with Google itself. They provide lots of tips through their Help/Support Center.

  • This pdf document is a one-page brief look at some of the more useful and easy-to-remember Google search tips. (For more guides like this, see the tools available at the Google Librarian Center.)
  • Google's Support center also provides a couple of web pages on Basic and Advanced Search strategies.

The rest of the links are to external web sites, mostly blogs that are dedicated to enhancing web searching and keeping up with technology.

Perhaps the biggest gem in today's knowledge inquiry was produced by techradar.com, a site providing technology news and reviews. Here I found a multi-page article called 101 Gogle Tips, Tricks and Hacks. Though longer than the others linked above, this article offers the most comprehensive cheat sheet for Google strategies and is well worth your perusal.

Don't search Google blindly anymore. Be empowered by the knowledge of their built-in search strategies and make use of the tools that will bring you more quickly and more efficiently to the information you need.

Search Better. Know More. Google It.
