JSTOR Biological Sciences Collection

03.30.2006

We have just initiated a subscription to JSTOR's Biological Sciences Collection. To see a subject list of these titles go here. An alphabetical list of titles is available here. The Biological Sciences Collection subsumes and augments the Ecology and Botany Collection (29 titles) to which we have had access for about two years. The Biological Sciences Collection is still under development. When complete it will provide access to approximately 100 journals.

You can link directly to any JSTOR titles for "searching" (by term or name) or "browsing" (by volume/issue) from the Taylor Periodical List.

JSTOR is a service by which we obtain indexing and full-text access to a complete run (back to the first volume) of a journal. The other key benefit is that we purchase archival rights to these JSTOR journals in perpetuity. In effect we -- more or less -- own the archive of the collections to which we subscribe (and pay an initial archival fee). This is in contrast to many other full-text periodicals to which we merely "lease" access.
