Physics Mission Trips
At Taylor University students have the unique opportunity to engage in missions trips utilizing their particular field of study. We believe that the purpose of our engineering physics program is not simply to help students attain a respectable position with a corporation or research program. While that is a primary objective of our program, we also strive to teach students to practice active servitude and to utilize the gifts that Christ has bestowed upon them. Whatever your talents are, we will help you find a way to use them for the glory of God the father.Sri Lanka
Four years ago, five Taylor University physics engineering students as well as two professors traveled to Sri Lanka in order to help build homes for a village in need. Five students developed a comprehensive plan for housing with electrical supply for the entire village. During their weeklong stay, the students were able to complete three homes for families who desperately needed them. As a result of their comprehensive plans for the rest of the village, other workers have come and finished building homes for the rest of the families using Taylor’s plans for the project. Dr. Kiers helped to organize the framing for the project while Dr. Voss used his expertise with electrical engineering to contribute.
Hurricane Katrina
When hurricane Katrina hit, Taylor University physics students responded by organizing a missions trip where they could put their talents to good use. Physics students traveled to Pascagoula, Mississippi to aid people who had suffered from the devistation of Hurricane Katrina. Electrical students helped by rewiring the damaged houses so that families could yet again utilize power.
