Program Type:
Bachelors Degree
Overview
Our graduates pursue a variety of careers both directly and indirectly related to the study of history, including teaching, museum directing, archival and library science, ministry, law, government work, international mission and relief work, business, and journalism. Most educational leaders consider an undergraduate major in a liberal arts subject such as history to be a valuable basis for graduate school study in a variety of fields.
Curriculum
Students majoring in the department are advised to plan a program with a proper balance between american and world history courses. All students expecting to major in the department who do not have a strong history background on the secondary level should take HIS 103, 104, 124, and 125 as early in their program as possible. The bachelor of arts degree with a major in history requires 36 hours and two years of one foreign language.
