Mounds State Park is situated along the White River near the east edge of Anderson, Indiana, in Madison County. It lies in the middle of Indiana's Central Till Plain Natural Region. The flora of Mounds State Park includes 455 vascular plant species within the 259 acre park. This high diversity falls into five distinct plant associations: floodplain woods, wet meadow, mesic ravine woods, dry to mesic upland woods, and cultural communities. In addition to its biological richness, Mounds State Park also preserves some of the finest examples of Indian earthworks and mound building in Indiana. |
