Taylor Theatre

You love to act, direct, or work behind the scenes on lights, sound and makeup. You believe that the theatre needs professionals who can make a difference for the cause of Christ. You belong in Taylor theatre where you can use the gifts God's given you to glorify and serve Him.

Taylor celebrates the 100th anniversary of theatre in 2008, and the tradition of excellence continues to grow. The number of theater majors has doubled in the past year.

Taylor's theatre program will give you

  • a broad range of theatre experiences, spanning many periods, genres, and styles.
  • plays that probe the human condition and reveal human action with integrity, authenticity, and a sense of ‘grace'
  • an opportunity to understand better what is true about yourself and others.

The program teaches you the techniques necessary for professional roles, as well as the behind the scenes elements of production. You take courses in stagecraft and scene design, acting, play directing, contemporary American theater, and theater for ministry.

While not every main stage play reflects the ethos of the Taylor community, the theatrical pursuit of truth resides at the heart of a Christian liberal arts education. The challenge for believing artists is to discover truth within the text and weave that into performances so that audiences are challenged and entertained.
