Opportunities to study the Bible where it was written

In addition to the on-campus Gen Ed Bible courses (Old Testament survey [BIB 110] and a New Testament survey [BIB 210]), students may take those courses overseas during January.

BIB 103 (Introduction to Holy Land Studies) is offered at Jerusalem University College (JUC), located just outside of the Old City of Jerusalem.  Students stay at JUC, but do several field trips to other parts of Israel including the Dead Sea and Galilee.  Further information about this course may be found at  http://www.juc.edu/ (click on "Short Term Academic Programs," and then "Historical and Geographical Settings").   This course may be taken for either BIB 110 or BIB 210 credit (or just as a general elective).  The cost of the course in 2009 was approximately $3500 which included air transportation from Chicago, room, and board.  Dr. Pak will be leading this course in January 2010.

BIB 203 (In the Footsteps of Paul) follows Paul's journeys in Greece and Italy.  The tour begins in Thessaloniki and visits Philippi, Berea, Athens, and Corinth in Greece, and ends in Rome.  This course may be taken for BIB 210 credit (or just as a general elective).  The cost of the course in 2009 was approximately $3200 which included air transportation from Chicago, room, and board.  Dr. Heth will be leading this course in January 2010.

Each September, shortly after school starts, the department has a meeting for all interested students.  Sign-up for each course begins after that meeting.
